Dr. Venu Divi comprehensively evaluates each unique patient and takes time to figure out the particular ear, nose, or throat condition that is ailing him or her. There is a myriad of options available to Dr. Divi’s patients to address ENT concerns. All the services available, from non-invasive to surgical, are listed below.
SINUS –
IN OFFICE
Balloon Sinuplasty
If you are averse to surgery but suffer from chronic sinusitis, balloon sinuplasty may be the right treatment option for you. Since it is less invasive, you will have a faster recovery time and alleviation from other sinusitis symptoms.
SINUVA Spacer Insertion
A Sinuva spacer is implanted into the sinuses where the surgically removed polyps used to be. Over the next 90 days, Sinuva will release medication to reduce inflammation in the sinuses.
Removal of Polyps
Nasal polyps are soft, benign growths found on the lining of your nose or sinuses. Even though these polyps are inherently harmless, they can cause uncomfortable symptoms. Fortunately, they can easily be removed at San Pedro Clinic.
SURGICAL
Endoscopic Sinus Surgery
Sinusitis, nasal polyps, and other blockages in the sinuses may be relieved with Endoscopic Sinus Surgery. An endoscope is inserted into the nostrils to detect the cause of the blockages which are then removed with specialized instruments.
EAR –
IN OFFICE
Earwax Removal
Earwax is a naturally produced substance that cleans, protects and lubricates the ear canal. However, overproduction or build up can lead to uncomfortable symptoms of fullness, itching, and partial hearing loss. Removing the wax will alleviate these symptoms.
Myringotomy With or Without Tube Placement (Adults)
A middle ear infection can cause fluid or pus to build up behind the ear drum. Trouble hearing, pressure, and discomfort can occur. A myringotomy, with or without tube placement, may be necessary to drain the fluid.
Removal or Biopsy of Ear Lesions
Most of the time, skin lesions on the outer ear are harmless and actually rather common. There are some cases though that require a biopsy or removal to study whether a lesion may be harmful to your health.
Removal of Foreign Bodies
Foreign objects have an amazing ability to be found in odd places, including the ear. Insects, cotton swabs, and other small objects can easily become lodged in the ear. Dr. Venu Divi will be able to remove the object with a low possibility of complications.
Earlobe Repair
Tearing an earlobe is shocking and painful. The resulting damage can also cause unwanted attention. Dr. Divi has the expertise to mend the tear with minimal scarring. After your lobe has healed, you should even be able to wear earrings again.
Epley Maneuver
Does simply moving your head cause dizziness? It may be benign positional vertigo. The Epley Maneuver, or the Canalith Repositioning Maneuver, can relieve this dizziness. After a 10 to 15-minute session at the San Pedro Clinic, you can do it at home.
SURGICAL
Myringotomy with Tube Placement (Kids)
An earache is unpleasant, especially as a child. Excess pus or fluid can build up in the middle ear behind the eardrum causing pain and pressure. Myringotomy is an operation to drain the fluid and allow ear tubes to be inserted.
Balloon Dilation of the Eustachian Tube
Your eustachian tube connects your throat to your middle ear. When blocked, it causes hearing loss, pain, or a feeling of fullness in your ears. It is a common condition that can be treated with a procedure called balloon dilation.
Ear Tube Removal
If a patient suffers from chronic ear infections, ear tubes may need to be inserted into the eardrum in order to drain the trapped fluid. Once Dr. Divi deems it appropriate, he will remove the tubes and repair the eardrum with earlobe fat.
Sophono® Hearing System
Hearing restoration in unilaterally deaf patients may be possible at the San Pedro Clinic. Dr. Venu Divi has access to the Sophono magnetic bone anchored hearing system (BAHS) which has restored hearing to many patients already.
Eustachian Tube Problems
The small passageway leading from your middle ear to your throat is called the Eustachian tube. Not only does it help balance the pressure in the inner ear, it also drains mucus from the middle ear. When it gets blocked though, problems arise.
NOSE –
IN OFFICE
Turbinate Reduction
Chronic nasal obstruction can cause difficulty breathing, headaches, and sleep disorders. An enlarged turbinate may be to blame. To help relieve the incessant “stuffy nose” feeling, a turbinate reduction procedure may be needed to restore airflow.
ClariFix
The ClariFix procedure utilizes cryotherapy as a way to treat chronic rhinitis, chronically runny nose, excessive throat clearing, and postnasal drip. It is an outpatient procedure that is performed in Dr. Divi’s office in San Pedro, Los Angeles.
Vivaer
Both non-invasive and easily performed in Dr. Divi’s office, VivAer may be the best treatment for you. Nasal airway obstruction causes difficulty breathing throughout the day. VivAer increases airflow through the internal nasal valve allowing you to breathe much easier.
Biopsy or Removal of Lesions
We may need to biopsy or remove nasal lesions in our office to rule out any potential issues and determine the most effective treatment if necessary.
Oftentimes nasal lesions are harmless but in some cases can be painful and cause future issues. In order to determine whether a lesion is virulent or benign, a biopsy or complete removal may be needed.
Removal of Polyps
Nasal polyps are soft, teardrop-shaped growths that develop on the lining of your sinuses or nasal passages. You may experience symptoms such as a runny nose, stuffiness, or post-nasal drip but sometimes there are no symptoms. Polyp removal can be performed in Dr. Divi’s office.
Recent Nasal Fracture Repair
Dr. Venu Divi can reset and repair a recently broken nose at the San Pedro Clinic. Treatment involves realigning and splinting the fracture by hand. However, if you wait to get help until after ten days of the injury, surgery may be necessary.
Removal of Foreign Bodies
Ears are not the only place where foreign objects can get stuck. They can also get stuck in your nose. Visit Dr. Venu Divi as soon as possible since objects stuck in your nose may cause infection or choking.
Latera Self-Dissolving Implant Placement
If you suffer from symptoms of nasal wall weakness the Spirox Latera self-dissolving implant may help improve airflow through your nose. The implant is placed into your lateral nasal wall to support the cartilage.
SURGICAL
Septoplasty
A deviated septum is a displacement of the thin wall that separates your right and left nasal passages. It does not always cause symptoms but frequent nosebleeds and chronic sinus infections may be relieved by a septoplasty procedure.
Severe Nasal Fracture Repair
Some nasal fractures can easily be fixed in Dr. Divi’s office, however, for more serious fractures, surgery may be needed. Dr. Divi will go over your best treatment options after evaluating the fracture.
THROAT –
IN OFFICE
Biopsy or Removal of Lesions
Lesions on the walls of your throat may be completely harmless albeit uncomfortable. There are many causes of lesions though that may be more serious. A biopsy or removal may be needed to diagnose the issue and establish a treatment plan.
Lingual Frenectomy
A lingual frenectomy is a procedure performed to fix an issue commonly referred to as “tongue-tied”. A thin strip of tissue, called the frenulum, connects your tongue to the bottom of your mouth. To fix speech and eating problems, the frenulum is cut during the procedure.
Endoscopic Biopsy of Lesions
Lesions in the larynx or at the base of the tongue are difficult to examine without any kind of medical device. A non-invasive biopsy is possible though with the help of an endoscope. Dr. Divi will insert the thin, flexible tube into your mouth to investigate the lesions.
SURGICAL
Tonsillectomy
Sleep disorders, breathing problems, or tonsillitis can usually be fixed without any invasive medical treatments. However, when medications and other less aggressive medical treatments fail to work any longer, a tonsillectomy may be necessary.
Removal of Lesions
There are many types of lesions that can materialize in your throat and/or voice box. Nodules, cysts, and polyps are only a few types of lesions that Dr. Venu Divi has examined. After a biopsy, Dr. Divi may recommend surgery to remove the lesions.
Neck Mass Removal
Any kind of lingering, unexpected lump in your neck can be a cause for concern. Visit Dr. Venu Divi in San Pedro, Los Angeles for a thorough evaluation. From the initial physical exam to an ultrasound or MRI, Dr. Divi will give you the best care.
Parotidectomy
The parotid glands are located in front of your ear on each side of your face. Growths that materialize on the glands can severely affect its functioning. A parotidectomy will be suggested as a solution. The surgery will remove the lesion and possibly part or the entire gland.
Adenoidectomy
Adenoids are patches of lymphatic tissue at the back of the throat. When enlarged, they can cause difficulty breathing and speaking. An adenoidectomy is commonly performed on children but some adults may also need the procedure if they suffer from chronic nasal congestion.
Flexible Laryngoscopy
Issues that affect the throat and larynx are easily examined by flexible laryngoscopy. If you or your child is suffering from problems swallowing, hoarseness, difficulty breathing, or any other throat problems, Dr. Divi will be able to see it.
